For Engaged Couples in New York City
First Dance Lessons That Actually Work
Your first dance is 3 minutes. It's photographed, filmed, and watched by everyone you love. We make sure those 3 minutes are ones you're proud of.
Start Planning Your First DanceYour First Dance, Designed for You
The first dance is often the part couples dread most—and the part guests remember best. That's why we don't teach generic steps. We teach your dance, to your song, for your wedding.
Whether you want a classic romantic sway or a choreographed showstopper, we design a routine that matches your personality, your venue, and your comfort level. No prior dance experience required.
Is This Right for You?
First dance lessons are for couples who:
- • Want to feel confident, not anxious, when the music starts
- • Have a song picked out (or need help choosing one)
- • Prefer private instruction over crowded group classes
- • Are getting married in the next 2-6 months
- • Have never danced together before—or ever
If you're hoping to just "wing it," that's your choice. But if you want to feel prepared and look great, 5 lessons can change everything.
How We Prepare You for Your First Dance
Step 1: We Listen
In your first session, we learn about your wedding—venue, song, vibe. We watch you move together and assess where you're starting from.
Step 2: We Build
Over the next few lessons, we build a routine step by step. Simple foundation first, then layers of polish. You'll practice between sessions.
Step 3: We Refine
By your final lessons, you're running the full dance. We fine-tune posture, timing, and transitions until the routine feels natural.
Step 4: You Dance
When your song plays at your wedding, you won't be thinking about steps. You'll be present, connected, and confident.
First Dance Lesson FAQs
How many lessons do we need for our first dance?
5 lessons for a simple, confident dance. 10 lessons for custom choreography or a more polished routine. We'll recommend the right number based on your goals.
What's the best song for a first dance?
Songs between 90-120 BPM with a clear rhythm work best. We'll help you evaluate your song choice in your first session.
Can we do a mashup or surprise dance?
Yes. We've choreographed dozens of surprise mashups. These typically require 10+ lessons to perfect the transitions.
What if we have two left feet?
That's most of our clients. We specialize in teaching people who've never danced before.
